Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has increased attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the city came under significant strikes overnight. A minor died and three other people were injured.

The assaults succeed nights of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were anticipating more assaults.
